OPTUS ENCOURAGES EXPATS TO PHONE HOME
02 February 2015, 11:07 AM
Introducing international call and text inclusions in postpaid mobile plans.
Optus has upgraded its postpaid mobile plans to include international calls, SMS and MMS. From today, postpaid customers who sign up to My Plan Plus will get unlimited standard international texts and up to 300 minutes each month to make standard international calls to friends and family in 32 countries overseas, in addition to generous domestic inclusions.
Ben White, Vice President of Mobile Marketing, Optus, said, “Australia is a multicultural country with many people arriving from overseas each year. Optus’ new international inclusions are designed for expats who want to keep in touch with friends and family in their home country without getting a massive bill.
“We know our customers regularly speak to people overseas. In fact, around 620,000 Optus postpaid customers make an international call or send an international text per month[1]. That’s why we’re now offering a convenient way to keep in touch that won’t break the bank.”
Chat more, message more on Optus My Plan Plus
- Unlimited standard SMS and MMS to 32 countries
- Generous voice inclusions: 50mins for $60 plan, 150mins for $80 plan, 300mins for $100 plan to use for standard international calls to 32 countries
- Additional $5 and $10 International Minutes Packs for $35 and $50 plans

“While apps have made it easier to chat to people overseas, it can often be frustrating arranging times. Others prefer international calling cards which need to be purchased in advance and may not offer the best rates.
“We know it’s more convenient to just call when you want from your mobile, regardless of what country you’re calling. Everyone enjoys hearing from their loved ones overseas, so Optus is making it cheaper and easier to call anytime, anywhere,” said Mr White.
