OPTUS GIVES BONUS DATA FOR NEW YEAR'S TREAT

1GB extra per month for all SIM Only mobile plans.

Got a new mobile for Christmas? Optus is offering customers a New Year’s treat with bonus data on all My Plan Plus SIM Only plans. From today, customers who bring their own phone and sign up for a $30, $45 or $60 per month SIM Only plan will get an extra 1GB of data per month on top of the existing data inclusions. Now data-hungry customers who love social media and online shopping can indulge their passions without worrying about exceeding their data limits, thanks to Optus’ bonus data inclusions. Both new customers and existing customers who change their plan can get the bonus data.

• No lock-in contracts: all the freedom of a month-to-month plan
• Data sharing: share your mobile plan’s data with up to five mobile devices with no ongoing fees
• No huge excess fees: automatically get extra data for just $10 per extra 1GB

SIM Only plans are becoming more popular as customers buy new phones outright or receive one as a gift. Either way, they want the freedom of a month-to-month plan without being locked in to a long-term contract.

Search, stream and surf to your heart’s content Australians are using more and more data on their mobile phones. Throughout New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day, Optus mobile customers used 385 terabytes of mobile data, an increase of 55% from the previous year[1]. “Many mobile plans offer unlimited calls and texts, so increasingly data is the currency for comparison when customers purchase mobile plans. We expect mobile data usage to increase as customers upgrade their phones and as we roll out Optus 4G to more places thanks to our new 700MHz spectrum. Optus is responding to this demand with bonus data on all of our SIM Only plans,” said Ms Brady.

That’s not all – share your bonus data with your tablet too

With Optus’ SIM Only data sharing plans, customers can share their phone’s data with up to five additional mobile broadband devices, like a SIM-ready tablet, pocket Wi-Fi or USB modem. There’s no ongoing cost, just a one-off $5 set-up fee per device. The bonus data offer for My Plan Plus SIM Only plans is available from 5 January to 6 April 2015. Customers who sign up for this offer will get the bonus data for the life of their plan. This offer is also available for existing customers who change to an equivalent or higher value SIM Only plan.
