OPTUS EXPANDS DATA CENTRE FOOTPRINT THROUGH RELATIONSHIP WITH NEXTDC

29 April 2013

Optus (ASX: SGT) and NEXTDC (ASX: NXT) today announced an expanded relationship that will enable Optus Business to offer the full suite of enterprise cloud, data centre and IP network services to customers from any NEXTDC data centre nationwide, providing Optus customers with greater flexibility and scalability. Optus has also completed the high-speed fibre connectivity deployment to NEXTDC sites in Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne, and will connect NEXTDC’s new Perth-based data centre, as well as its 17,650m² Sydney data centre at Macquarie Park in the coming months. NEXTDC sites will be connected with the Optus Evolve Network, an enterprise-grade IP network, to deliver bandwidth for data intensive applications such as cloud based computing and video conferencing. John Paitaridis, Managing Director of Optus Business, said today’s announcement signalled Optus Business’ commitment to expand its national data centre assets through strategic alliances and new investments. “Optus’ relationship with NEXTDC significantly expands the availability of Optus Evolve and PowerON cloud services across our national data centre assets. Combined with Optus' existing data centres, this now gives Optus Business one of the most significant data centre footprints in Australia. “Our 2012 Future of Business report showed organisations having an increased willingness to adopt cloud products and services while also predicting strong growth in infrastructure as a service, with 43 per cent likely to adopt Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) within the next three to five years. As organisations embrace the benefits of cloud, Optus Business is focused on ensuring its customers are reaping the full flexibility and cost benefits that cloud computing can deliver. “As part of the SingTel Group, with 12 data centres across the region, Optus Business will be able to support customer requirements for cloud services, data centre solutions and secure storage – both nationally and across the Asia Pacific,” said Mr Paitaridis. As a leading provider of independent data centres across Australia, NEXTDC is building a national network of facilities of world-class standards. Optus Business customers will also benefit from NEXTDC’s secure rack containment solution, including the award-winning Data Centre as a Service (DCaaS) platform ONEDC®. Craig Scroggie, NEXTDC Chief Executive Officer said, “We are delighted to be working closely with Optus as part of its commitment to expanding services for its customers. Optus' investment in communications infrastructure for the NEXTDC national network is a huge commitment and we expect to see great rewards working with Optus over the coming years.” Media contacts Joshua Drayton / Derek Lau Optus Corporate Affairs (02) 8082 7850 Craig Scroggie Chief Executive Officer NEXTDC Limited T: +61 7 3177 4777 E: media@nextdc.com About NEXTDC NEXTDC is an ASX 300 company and is the only independent data centre operator with strategic footprint in all major growth markets in Australia.
