03 December 2012, 09:00 AM

Optus today announced two key management changes which will strengthen the SingTel Group's global digital business and take advantage of changes in the consumer info-communications and multimedia landscapes.

Michael Smith, Managing Director, Marketing, will take on a global role as Chief Commercial Officer for Group Digital L!fe, SingTel.

Michael will be part of the team driving the growth agenda for this new business, with responsibility for expanding the portfolio of global digital products, developing a strong digital brand, and driving sales.

Allen Lew, CEO Group Digital L!fe SingTel, said "Michael possesses deep expertise and insights into the Australian consumer. I am confident his appointment will bring to life many of the innovative ideas and distinct services that SingTel is introducing into the global market."

Optus will announce a replacement for the role of Managing Director, Marketing, in the new year.

Austin Bryan, Vice President, L!festream, Group Digital L!fe, SingTel, will move from his regional role to Optus, reporting to Kevin Russell, CEO Consumer Australia.

Austin will focus on transforming Optus' operating model to drive efficiencies and align capabilities to help Optus gear up for what will be a very different market in 2017.

"The communications industry is radically different from what it was five years ago. Similarly, how we serve our customers and operate today will not be relevant in five years' time. Austin's focus is to drive the appropriate changes in the Optus Consumer unit's structures, platforms and capabilities to meet the demands of continually evolving customer expectations and technologies," said Kevin Russell.
