OPTUS FLIES IN WORLD'S FASTEST FOR 4G NETWORK LIFT OFF

World’s fastest talker, texter, reader and rapper land down under in search of all things fast

Optus announced today the launch of its 4G network for Australian consumers by bringing four of the fastest people in the world to Australia to show the nation all the great things you can do faster with 4G.

To coincide with the launch of its 4G network in Sydney, Perth and Newcastle and the rolling out of Optus 4G in Melbourne on 15th September 2012, Optus will be the first carrier in Australia to launch Samsung’s most powerful 4G smartphone exclusively to its customers. The Samsung GALAXY S III 4G will be available for pre-order from today at www.optus.com.au/4gsamsung.

The ‘Fast Four’

The Optus ‘Fast Four’ hold long standing Guinness World Record titles for being the fastest in their area of expertise including rapping, texting, talking and reading. They will zoom across the country showcasing how Australians can share music, upload photos, download movies and connect with loved ones faster than ever before with Optus 4G.

The ‘Fast Four’ will also be on the hunt for their Australian counterparts willing to put their speed credentials to the test:

• Ricky Brown, one of fastest rappers in the world who can rap 724 syllables in 51.27 seconds and is on the lookout for an Aussie to match his ‘rap stats’
• Howard Berg, the world’s fastest reader who can read at an astonishing 25,000 words per minute and is searching for a true blue speed reader
• Sean Shannon, the world’s fastest talker who speaks at the lightning speed of 10.9 words per second, and who’s hunting for a local motor mouth
• Melissa Thompson, whose super quick fingers have gained her the title of the world’s fastest texter on a smartphone, texting 160 characters in just 25.94 seconds and who is challenging Aussies to see if they can outperform her

In addition to the Samsung GALAXY S III 4G, Optus will also launch 4G USB and Wi-Fi modem devices from today.

Ricky Brown, the two time Guinness World Record holder for the world’s fastest rap said, “Speed is who we are and what we do, so if you can rap Eminem’s Lose Yourself in under a minute, recite poetry at the speed of sound, rattle through Harry Potter at breakneck pace, or produce smoke from your fingers when texting your friends, the Optus ‘Fast Four’ want to meet you.”

The Events

The Optus ‘Fast Four’ will be propelled into the Sydney George Street ‘yes’ Optus store on Tuesday 4th September between 12pm – 2pm. Ricky Brown will also be appearing at the Perth Hay Street ‘yes’ Optus store on Thursday 6th September between 12pm – 2pm.
