SAMSUNG STORMS INTO THE AUSTRALIAN TELCO NETBOOK MARKET
10 August 2009, 09:00 AM
Ultra Light 10.2" netbook offers wireless broadband via the Optus network
Samsung Electronics Australia, a market leader in consumer electronics and world leader in IT technology, is bringing the Samsung NC10, one of Europe's favourite netbooks, to Australia exclusively for Optus customers. The Samsung NC10 is small, light and incredibly functional delivering consumers a true portable online experience with a pre-installed Optus Wireless Broadband service.
$0 upfront on a 24 month Optus My Wireless Netbook 2GB or 5GB plan, the Samsung NC10 delivers connectivity in a slim, sleek, piano black design. Complete with an Optus Wireless Broadband SIM and pre-installed wireless broadband connectivity software, the Samsung NC10 provides a true plug and play capability and eliminates the need to use an external USB modem to connect to the web.
Optus will offer two plan options the My Wireless Netbook 2GB for $49.99 per month and the My Wireless Netbook 5GB for $69.99 per month so commuters, bloggers and those that rule their life from their handbag or suitcase, will be able to connect to the internet whether on the road or on-the-go.
Ultra Mobility
Providing one of the world's lightest 10.2" netbooks, weighing just 1.33kg* the Samsung NC10 incorporates a stunning 10.2" WSVGA (1024 x 600) SuperBright© Non-Gloss LED screen which is optimised to deliver a seamless visual experience for this compact netbook, perfect for viewing text and photos. The LED technology ensures that the screen is thinner, up to 33 per cent brighter, and uses much less power than a traditional LCD screen. The regular size, ergonomic keyboard is a key benefit for those people already used to their desktop of full-size notebook experience.
Intel's smallest and lowest power processor, the Intel® Atom™ processor, enables the Samsung NC10 to deliver real computing power in a single compact, lightweight and wireless solution. By incorporating the Microsoft™ Windows® XP Home operating system, 160GB hard disk storage and Optus Wireless Broadband, the NC10 sets a new standard in price and performance for netbooks.
Always on the go
The Samsung NC10's ultra durable Protect-o-Edge© casing can easily withstand the stresses and strains of everyday life, making this netbook the ideal companion for a mobile lifestyle. Bringing maximum freedom and mobility, the Samsung NC10 delivers longer battery powered performance. With a six cell battery capable of just up to eight hours*, this little powerhouse makes mobile working a more practical reality.
"We have been looking at the netbook market for some time to see where we could really add value for consumers. This is the first time we have partnered with a telecommunications provider to further enable consumer take-up and awareness of our IT solutions. By leveraging our existing relationship with Optus, together we have succeeded in delivering an all in one solution to meet Australian customers' demands out of the box," said Emmanuele Silanesu, National Product and Marketing Manager of Samsung Austraila IT Division.
The Samsung NC10 is ideally suited to the first-time buyer or as a supplement to a primary notebook. Its low price and practical functionality gives people a user friendly way to get onto the web, access emails and social networks.
Anthony Hearne, Optus Consumer Marketing Director said "Optus customers can now purchase a complete mobile computing package with us, allowing them to take possession of a new netbook and wireless broadband service with no upfront cost.
"We've partnered with Samsung because they're a market leader in consumer electronics, we wanted to ensure our customers benefited from a powerful netbook while accessing Optus' high speed wireless broadband network," Mr Hearne said.
The Samsung NC10 is available at Optus dealers nationally and through Optus telesales from today. Both 2GB and 5GB My Wireless Netbook plans offer customers the Samsung NC10 netbook computer with an embedded Optus Wireless Broadband (OWB) service that works on the Optus dual band (900/2100MHz) mobile network for $0 upfront over 24 months; with a total minimum spend of $1209.71 on the My Wireless Netbook 2GB plan or $1689.71 on the My Wireless Netbook 5GB.
