OPTUS SIGNS UP FOR CHILDCARE CENTRES

7 December 2005

Optus announced today that it had reached an agreement with A.B.C. Corporate Care Pty. Ltd. (ABC) for it to provide childcare services for children of Optus employees nationally.

The initial centres under the program will be located near Optus' head office in North Sydney and near Optus' call centre at Mawson Lakes, Adelaide.

A.B.C. Corporate Care Pty. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of A.B.C Learning Centres Ltd, will build and manage childcare centres specifically for Optus employee's children around the country. The centres will offer care to suit the specific needs of Optus staff in each location.

Julie Coleman, Director, Optus Human Resources, said the agreement represented a positive outcome for Optus, children and parents. Optus continued to demonstrate its commitment to integrating family friendly policies across the company.

"This new initiative will make quality childcare more accessible for Optus people and enhance workplace flexibility. We believe this is critical given the demands of juggling a career and a family," Ms Coleman said.

The exclusive Optus child care centres will provide cost effective childcare for children aged 0 to 5 years.

Martin Kemp, A.B.C. CEO Operations, said ABC was excited by the prospect of providing its high quality early childhood services for Optus families.

Optus will continue to work with A.B.C. Corporate Care to provide additional employer-provided childcare centres. Numerous locations are being considered across all States. A new centre at Macquarie Park (North Ryde) will be exclusive for Optus children from 2007.

Optus has designed specific policies to assist employees to manage their family and work responsibilities. These include - paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave; flexible working arrangements including part time employment, job share and working from home; as well as an internal website which assists staff in locating resources such as home help and health and well being.

Optus employs over 9500 people nationally.
