OPTUS IMPROVES NETWORK COVERAGE ON THE CAPRICORN COAST

Optus today announced a further enhancement to its mobile network coverage in Queensland with the installation of a new mobile facility in Gladstone on the Capricorn Coast. The facility will enhance Optus GSM network coverage in the CBD while increasing the capacity of existing sites in Gladstone. The additional coverage allows Optus Mobile customers to use their mobile phones in more places in and around the Gladstone town centre. Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Consumer said, "The new sites are part of Optus' strategy to expand our network in regional Australia, providing the highest quality of GSM coverage. Our commitment can be seen in the $33 million we've invested in 90 new sites across Queensland over the last two years. "Overlooking a natural deepwater harbour and offering direct access to the Great Barrier Reef, Gladstone has a dynamic and growing economy. With plans to further expand coverage to Maurice Hill, Optus is playing a major role in assisting the development of local business and tourism in the area," he said.
