OPTUS COWS BEEF THE CAPACITY FOR MELBOURNE CUP

Optus has raced in its CoWs to provide its mobile customers more than 250 per cent greater capacity at the Melbourne Cup.

Optus will provide two Cells on Wheels (CoW) to deliver additional mobile capacity for the racing event with expectations of handling more than 350,000 calls and up to 200,000 SMS Messages.

Crowds are expected to exceed more than 120,000 people and with the popular use of camera phones, Optus is expecting an increased usage of MMS at the event and has catered for high Data traffic.

With more than five million mobile customers, a third of the nation's mobile subscribers are using the Optus mobile network.

This is part of the Optus Mobile strategy to provide coverage to customers where and when they need it.
