OPTUS DELIVERS MOBILE COVERAGE TO HUNTER REGION

Optus is providing enhanced mobile coverage to the Hunter and Port Stephens regions following the installation of mobile base stations at Shoal Bay, Killingworth and Pokolbin.

Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile, said the company was committed to providing increased competition in the regions over the next few months.

"The Hunter and Port Stephens regions are popular tourist spots and support important local industries. Improving mobile coverage throughout the area was a key priority for Optus.

"The Killingworth site enhances coverage along the F3 freeway around Killingworth, Holmesville and Barnesley between other Optus sites in Ryhope and Mt Sugarloaf," Mr Lew said.

Richard Cavil, owner and manager of Optus World Glendale said the activity in the area was a good thing for consumers.

"Customers are always asking about coverage on the route north, particularly along the F3 freeway. The recent improvements in the Hunter and Port Stephens areas will be welcomed, particularly prior to the busy Christmas holiday season.

"The Shoal Bay site will provide coverage to the village of Shoal Bay and surrounds including stronger coverage in the Port Stephens area. And the Pokolbin site will improve coverage around the wineries," Mr Cavil said.

Optus has other coverage plans for the area including: Anna Bay, Bobs Farm, Mt Hutton, Blacksmith, Mulbring, Kurri Kurri, Rutherford, Allendale and Edgeworth.
