PARTNERSHIP REACHES 10 YEAR MILESTONE

We have had a change of Prime Minister and come to terms with the GST but one thing has remained solid throughout the past 10 years - the partnership between Canberra Theatre Centre and Optus.

Optus have been the principal sponsor of the centre since 1993 and recently signed on for 2003, marking a decade of support. The backing of this communications company has ensured the best international and national performers have made a stop in Canberra during the past 10 years.

Don Aitkin, Chairman of the Cultural Facilities Corporation, congratulated Optus on their significant long term support of the arts. Canberra Theatre Centre is an activity of the Cultural Facilities Corporation.

"The 10 year partnership has ensured Canberra Theatre Centre has remained one of Australia's leading performing arts venues," Mr Aitkin said. "The past 10 years have meant CTC has been able to bring some of the most remarkable theatre to Canberra and the innovation and excitement of these theatre companies reflects the long term vision of Optus."

Mr George Nicola, ACT Manager for Optus Business said, "Celebrating our 10 year partnership with the Canberra Theatre Centre is an exciting milestone for Optus. We are committed to providing quality telecommunications services to the Nations Capital, as well as facilitating quality theatrical experiences to the people of Canberra."

The 10 year partnership will be officially celebrated on Thursday 6 March in The Optus Foyer of the Canberra Theatre. According to Mr Aitkin, a new symbol of the relationship will be unveiled to mark the occasion. Among the special guests at the celebration will be Branch Manager ACT Optus George Nicola and Minister for the Arts Bill Wood.

"The Cultural Facilities Corporation and Canberra Theatre Centre look forward to continuing a successful relationship with Optus," Mr Aitkin said.
