OPTUS PROVIDES BETTER MOBILE COVERAGE TO REGIONAL VICTORIA

Optus is providing better mobile coverage for its customers in Victoria's largest regional centre with a new base station at Wendouree.

Local Optus dealer Robert Bell, said Optus is continuing to improve its mobile coverage in Victoria and this new base station 'raises the bar' for mobile customers in Ballarat and surrounding areas.

"We have a population of about 87,000 people and the better mobile coverage is good news for residents and local businesses, especially in the industrial estates.

"The additional coverage will greatly benefit western parts of Ballarat, particularly Wendouree and the Western Highway heading out of town," he said.

"Optus is showing its commitment to the area with new base stations planned for the new year including sites at Mt Ben Nevis, Avoca, and further sites for the Western Highway between Ballarat and Melbourne," said Mr Bell.

In addition, Optus is expected to roll out more base stations over the next 12 to 18 months in regional Victoria.

With more than four million mobile customers, a third of the nation's mobile users are on the Optus mobile network.
