CABLE & WIRELESS OPTUS IN CAPACITY DEAL WITH AAPT

Cable & Wireless Optus has signed a wholesale communications capacity deal to provide AAPT with a national backbone network.

The deal reconfirms Cable & Wireless Optus' leadership position in the wholesale communications market.

"The deal with AAPT is part of a series of wholesale capacity deals that the company has done over the last financial year on each of its five networks," said Cable & Wireless Optus Managing Director Data and Business Mr Stephen Beynon.

This new capacity will be used to extend the geographic reach of AAPT's existing network as well as providing telephone and data transmission for its mobile and LMDS networks.

AAPT is expected to be able to access its new network capacity in approximately 12 months and depending on traffic volume can significantly increase it the future.
