Q: Can I keep my number when switching to Optus Prepaid?
A: You can keep your number when switching to Optus by following the steps below.
- Head to optus.com.au/activate and have your new Optus Prepaid SIM & some ID handy
- We send you an SMS to verify your number transfer, so please keep your current SIM in your device
- Enter Your Details and be sure they match the details of your current Mobile Service Provider's record
- Select Keep Your Number when you've reached the Your Number section in Step 3 and enter your mobile number
Q: How long does the porting transfer take?
A: You can activate online at any time; however a number will only 'physically' switchover during the times/days shown below. So if you make a request outside of these hours, your service will remain active with your existing provider until the next business day and then switchover. Switching normally occurs within about 20 minutes, but can take up to 4 hours during these times.
Monday - Friday: 08:00AM - 08:00PM
Saturday: 10:00AM - 06:00PM
Q: What will it cost?
A: Sometimes if you cancel a contract with another service provider early, they may charge you a fee. Be sure to check with your existing provider as Optus is not liable for any fees incurred as a result of you transferring your service from another carrier.
Q: Can I change or move between Prepaid plans?
A: Yes, you can change your current Prepaid plan here.
Q: What is expiry extension?
A: It is the ability to stack your expiry period. Instead of losing any remaining days you have left if you recharge before your expiry period ends, you will be able to add them to your future recharge. For example, if I recharge $30 on day 25 of my current recharge, I will have a 31 day expiry period on my new recharge.
Q: Can I buy multiple recharges at once?
A: Yes, you can. Note that your data rollover will behave in the same way, so you notice some of your data is in MyData and some will appear in MyData Rollover.
Q: Will my Extras Credit or 10GB video streaming inclusions stack too?
A: No. Currently any unused Extras Credit or Video Streaming inclusion will be forfeited when you recharge. This will remain as is when this new feature launches.
Q: How many days can I accumulate?
A: You can accumulate up to 84 days, or three $30 recharges. If you continue to recharge at the maximum amount of days, you will not be able to accumulate any days above 84.
Q. How much MyData can I roll over?
A: For Optus Epic Data plan, if you recharge before expiry of your standard recharge, you can roll over up to 200GB data. If you accrue over 200GB you will forfeit any data over that limit. For Optus Epic Value and Optus Prepaid Mobile Broadband plans, you can roll over up to 50GB data, not including bonus data offers. If you accrue over 50GB you will forfeit any data over that limit.
Q. What destinations can I call if I have a standard plan inclusion of unlimited standard international calls?
A: If you have a standard plan inclusion of unlimited standard international calls, you can make calls to 15 destinations: Canada, mainland China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, NZ, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, UK and USA. For details click here.
Q. What happens if I would like to call other destinations?
A: You can call other destinations that aren't part of your standard inclusion by using the Extras Credit included in recharges that are $30 and above on Optus Prepaid Epic Data. To check calling rates for other destinations, head to optus.com.au/prepaidint.
Q. Can I make calls to these international destinations from anywhere?
A: The unlimited standard international calls inclusion is valid for calls made from within Australia. You can use the included Extras Credit for roaming or calls made from outside of Australia.
Q. How will the standard international calls inclusion appear on my recharge balance?
A: When you check your balance, you will see your unlimited standard international calls under MyTalk Selected Intl.
