Optus supports the Waalitj Foundation with unmissable Go-Karting experience

Optus is proud to back the Waalitj Foundation on its mission to improve the quality of life for First Nations peoples, and in the leadup to the Perth round of the Supercars, we were thrilled to get Djilba and Yirra Danjoo participants in on the action with an exclusive Go-Karting experience.

The Waalitj Foundation was founded back in 2005 by the West Coast Eagles Football Club, and was originally known as the David Wirrpanda Foundation Inc. The Foundation leads the provision of education, employment and business opportunities for First Nations Peoples by working together to empower and build capacity amongst individuals, their families and their communities.

With the Supercars in Perth for round eight of the championship, Optus took the opportunity to bring our partnership with Walkinshaw TWG Racing together with the Waalitj Foundation, to create an epic afternoon of racing fun.

We thought we'd share some moments from the day and underscore why organisations like Waalitj matter for the local community, First Nations peoples and Australia as a whole.

The day was full of revs and excitement, with the Waalitj Foundation inviting Youth Justice program students of Djilba and Yirra Danjoo to the PowerPlay Malaga Go-Kart track.

Djilba focuses on youth and family support for Aboriginal young men aged between 12 and 18 years old. The program aims to build belonging, stability and confidence in young Aboriginal men, while creating connections between them and education and employment opportunities.

Yirra Danjoo has a similarly important mission, as a service for children and adolescents up to 18 years old with serious mental health and neurodevelopmental challenges.

We backed these important organisations by powering an unforgettable experience with Walkinshaw TWG Racing's Fabian Coulthard. The team was in town for the upcoming Supercars round that weekend. Walkinshaw TWG Racing is a key partner of Optus and we're thrilled that they can help make memorable experiences like this happen.
