Optus launches next gen Ultra WiFi Modem

Optus recently launched the Optus Ultra WiFi Modem (Gen 2) with the latest WiFi 6 technology allowing customers to enjoy faster WiFi speeds on more devices and in more corners of the home.

The new modem will deliver fast nbn download speeds so you can stream, play, listen and work from home at pace. 

As the Optus Ultra WiFi modem comes with a 4G SIM built-in, you can simply plug in your next gen modem and connect to the backup Optus 4G network connection in minutes.¹

Available to customers on the Optus Home nbn plans the next gen modem is:

• Ultra-fast – powering speeds up to 150 per cent faster than our previous modem^*.
• Ultra-reliable – offering automatic backup on the Optus 4G network, allowing peace of mind if the nbn connection ever falters^{^}.
• Ultra-sustainable – built with 95 per cent recycled plastics and 100 per cent recycled cardboard packaging. You can also recycle this new modem or your old one through our MobileMuster partnership program at any of our Optus stores.

WiFi 6 is the next generation of WiFi, delivering faster speeds and better coverage. WiFi 6 also powers more devices at once – up to 128 devices on the same WiFi network, from Ultra HD TVs and gaming consoles to smart appliances.

The new Optus Ultra WiFi Modem (Gen 2) is WiFi 6 certified, meaning it has passed rigorous testing to meet internationally recognised standards for interoperability, security, and application specific protocols.

New customers who switch to Optus nbn will get the new Optus Ultra WiFi Modem (Gen 2) included in their nbn plan at no extra cost, when they stay connected for 36 months.
