Is a smart watch a good gift for grandparents?

Just because your grandparents are getting older, doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy new toys. We take a look at the ways a smart watch might brighten up their Christmas.
We don’t want to scare you, but Christmas is next month. Yep, that’s right bells are ringing, tinsel’s getting caught on your clothes and Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is you” has reappeared in your local shopping centre. And if you’re anything like us, you’ve left your Christmas shopping till the last minute and now are in dire need of some present inspiration, particularly for those picky grandparents.

Well, friends, you can thank us later because we’ve got a gift idea that’s perfect for nan and pop, the smart watch.
So, let us tell you why you should give the gift of wearable tech this Christmas.
Health
We’ve talked a lot about smart watches and their safety features recently, but let’s recount some of the awesome capabilities smart watches have that will help keep your elderlies safe. Without getting into all the technical jargon, a smart watch can be a pretty comprehensive fall detection device, a blood oxygen monitor and a heart monitor. It’s also quite delicate and not at all intrusive which means the grandparents don’t have to feel insecure about wearing it.
Fitness
Some of us, not all of us, have superman-fit grandparents. You know the ones that are ripped and run marathons for fun? The ones with seemingly endless amounts of energy? Yeah, those ones. Despite being hashtag goals, these grannies and grandpas would love a smart watch to record their running times and distance, monitor their heart rate, check how many calories they’ve burnt- it’s really a no-brainer gift.
Lifestyle
Above everything else, these little wrist watches are super convenient for anyone, let alone someone lucky enough to be on the cusp of retirement or retired already. We think everyone can appreciate that. They can do many of the things you’d normally do on your phone on something much smaller, and conveniently strapped to their wrist. They can take calls, count steps, and keep in touch with friends and family while they’re strolling on the beach, doing the gardening or loving the grey nomad lifestyle.
Right, so there a few reasons why smart watches would make a great present for your grandparents, but if you need some more convincing or want to check out the specs have a squiz at our catalogue of smart watches.
