Optus 4G Internet is an alternative way to get internet compared to what you might think of as a ‘traditional’ internet connection like ADSL or nbn™. Instead of relying on networks of underground cable, Optus 4G Internet uses mobile towers to deliver an internet connection.
Is Optus 4G Internet different to WiFi?
While Optus 4G Internet and WiFi are related, they are different technology with different functions. Optus 4G Internet delivers internet to your home by sending a signal from nearby mobile towers to your modem. From there, your modem creates a WiFi network so you can use internet on devices such as your phone or laptop wirelessly.
What is the Optus Coverage Commitment?

No, entertainment options are not available on these plans.
Will customers be charged a cancellation fee?
There are no plan cancelation fees. Customers on the 24-month plan will need to pay out the full remaining cost of the modem, which will include any monthly device credit/subsidy that Optus was going to cover, plus, all charges incurred up to the end of the bill cycle in which the service was cancelled. For customers on the month-to-month plans, there will be no ‘remaining’ device cost, as the modem is charged and paid for upfront. The customer will just need to pay all charges incurred up to the end of the bill cycle in which the service was cancelled.
Is data share available on these plans?
No, data share or data pooling are not available on these plans.
What are the speeds available on Optus 4G Internet Unlimited plans?
Speeds on 4G Internet Unlimited plans are limited to a maximum download speed of 25Mbps and a maximum upload speed of 2Mbps. A download speed of 25Mbps is suitable for web browsing, emails, social media, streaming music, SD and HD video. It is not suitable for 4K streaming and may not be suitable for online gaming.
Data speeds for the 4G Internet Service are variable and may differ to mobile and mobile broadband speeds on our 4G network. Actual speeds will depend on a number of factors including congestion, location, local conditions, hardware, software and general internet traffic.
Can a business customer apply for these plans?
Yes, business customers can sign up to this plan by adding their ABN/ACN.
When will the 1-month free offer appear on my bill?
The 1-month free offer will show as a credit on your first or second bill, depending on your billing cycle. If this credit hasn’t been applied by your second bill, please contact us on 1300 101 693.
