Optus Wholesale has entered the Layer 3 wholesale nbn® market with the launch of Optus Wholesale NBN, an API-first platform that gives service providers a simpler way to bring broadband to market, manage services and scale.
Unlike traditional wholesale models that require partners to adapt to the carrier's systems, Optus Wholesale NBN lets partners choose how they integrate. They can connect directly through APIs or manage services through MyWholesale Portal and bring their own devices.
John Castro, Executive General Manager, Optus Wholesale, said:
"Partners shouldn't have to run their business around their carrier. We won't tell them which systems to use, which devices to supply or how to package their products. We give them a proven network, an automated platform and support from teams here in Australia, then get out of their way."
One of the benefits of the platform is that service providers can start customers on Optus Wholesale NBN and move them to higher-performance services as their needs change, as Castro explains.
“When a partner's customers need more, whether that's Optus Fibre or NBN Enterprise Ethernet, they can move them up without having to change their wholesale provider. Optus Wholesale NBN is a starting point, not a ceiling.”
Among the first partners to bring its nbn® services to market on the platform is upcoming telco challenger brand Yomojo.
James Linton, Yomojo Chief Executive Officer, said:
"We have a target of 50,000 services over 36 months and a small team. The only way those two things go together is if the ordering and provisioning layer runs without us touching it. That's what we were buying here, more than the access service. As we grow, we need a wholesale partner that understands challenger brands and lets us scale without adding headcount. I benchmarked almost 20 nbn wholesale providers before signing with Optus."
The service is now available nationally across all 121 nbn® points of interconnect, with speed tiers from nbn 25 to nbn 1000.
Built on a platform already in use
Optus Wholesale NBN already supports Amaysim's Layer 3 nbn® services. Optus is now opening the same platform to external wholesale partners, giving them an established, proven way to order and manage services from day one.
Network performance partners can build on
Optus Wholesale NBN is delivered over the nbn® access network and Optus' national network. In the ACCC's final Measuring Broadband Australia report (Report 33, June 2026), Optus customers on nbn® fixed-line plans received, on average, more than 100% of their plan's maximum download speed during busy hours (7pm to 11pm weekdays).
