Optus strengthens network coverage in Lowanna

6 July 2023

·       New Lowanna tower to enhance mobile coverage for over 100 local residences

Over 100 homes in Lowanna have received a coverage boost with Optus switching on a new tower as part of the New South Wales Government’s Connecting Country Communities Fund.

The increased coverage area spans major roads and over 100 local residences to ensure those travelling through the area maintain a connection while providing people in the region with a better network, call and download experience.

Optus Territory General Manager for Northern NSW, Chris Simon, said Optus is pleased people living, working and visiting the region have a resilient and versatile network.

“We’re proud that we now offer our customers much-needed access to our network through our 5G service, as well as providing greater capacity to the Optus network in the region.

“Digital connectivity is vital for Lowanna residents, not only from a safety perspective but also for residents and workers who need fast download speeds and reliable connectivity whether at home, work or on the go.

“We're also pleased this tower will provide people in the community greater mobile competition and choice," he concluded.

Minister for Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty said the new tower was a big win for the Lowanna community who now have reliable and high standard mobile coverage, when and where it’s needed.

“Whether it's staying in touch with family and friends, making business calls or appointments, or even accessing safety apps during extreme weather conditions, having access to a reliable mobile network is crucial for our regional communities,” Ms Moriarty said.

“This tower was delivered as part of the NSW Government's $50 million Connecting Country Communities Fund and reconfirms our commitment to improve mobile coverage across rural and regional NSW.”

The NSW Government's Connecting Country Communities Fund supports the investment in expanding Optus’ telecommunications infrastructure and mobile coverage.

The investment to expand Optus’ telecommunications infrastructure and mobile coverage is part of an ongoing project, aiming to improve coverage, reliability, and speed across the Optus mobile network.
