Optus and McAfee partner together to launch Optus WiFi Secure – helping households keep safe online

Optus is continuing its ongoing relationship with McAfee, building on a shared commitment to keep Australians of all ages safe online by launching Optus WiFi Secure, which automatically protects all devices connected to your home or business modem from online threats. This is the latest in their cyber safety focused partnerships and is included for all new and existing Optus Family Internet Plan customers.

Research reveals that security is ranked as the most important router feature amongst families (73%), with 66% of people considering security to be very important feature when buying a smart device. Upon recognising a need in the market for customers wanting to protect themselves and their families from online threats, Optus saw the opportunity to meet this and deliver customers peace of mind, by providing tools to help keep their passwords and personal data safe while on the home WiFi network.

WiFi Secure actively monitors for malicious websites that house malware and other threats and protects your connected devices from any attempts to gain access to your home WiFi network. This includes everything from baby monitors, security cameras to smart devices and home security systems.

The number of connected devices in the average Australian home is on the rise. With devices evolving to being used for social, entertainment, work and educational purposes, the need for the level of convenience they bring to each household is more important than ever. However, on the flip side, it also comes with more entry points for vulnerabilities within the home, which is where Optus WiFi Secure comes into play to automatically protect from any online threats. It's built into the Optus compatible modems and, helps to make sure all internet traffic passing through the modem, to any device on that network, is safe – even those without a display screen.
