Optus today announced it will continue to improve 4G mobile coverage across the Riverina Region after switching on a new mobile tower in the town of Jindera.
The new tower, designed to maximize mobile reception and cater for floodlights in the recreation reserve, will address a known black spot identified by the local community, providing them with dedicated mobile reception to make and receive calls, texts and access mobile data in more places.
Optus’ Regional Manager for the Riverina, Karin Wilcox said, “the site will not only improve coverage for those in Jindera but also improve coverage for those who travel along Urana Road every day.”
“Optus remains committed to providing fast and reliable mobile and internet coverage across the Riverina,” said Ms Wilcox.
“Over the last 12-months Optus has invested $1.2 million in the Albury/Wodonga and Riverina area, switching on new sites at both Jindera and Cromer Hills just north of Holbrook.”
Local Optus Lavington franchisee Brad Mills said the completion of the new mobile tower in Jindera would help strengthen mobile coverage in the town and surrounds.
“Optus is continuing to invest in its mobile network across the Riverina region and as the local franchisee here in Lavington, it’s great that our customers are continuing to see an improving Optus network,” said Brad Mills.
“Of course, we welcome anyone looking for a new mobile phone plan or an awesome value broadband internet, home phone or TV entertainment package to come down to Optus at Lavington Square and have a chat to the team.”
The Optus network handles over 45 million calls and 80 million SMS messages each day and carries 6,000 terabytes of data each week. Optus is continuing to expand and strengthen its network to deliver improved data and voice services across metropolitan, regional and remote locations nationally.
