OPTUS COMMITS MORE THAN $6 MILLION TO IMPROVE MOBILE COVERAGE IN WAGGA WAGGA

Optus has announced a $6.3 million commitment to improve 4G mobile coverage in Wagga Wagga and the surrounding Riverina region.

In plans announced today, Optus will build new mobile sites in Gumly Gumly, Downside, Lake Albert, Uranquinty, Collingullie, Junee and Marrar in the next two years.

Local Wagga Wagga Franchisee, Wally Pasquali, said, “We understand the need for better mobile coverage for people living, working, and visiting Wagga Wagga and the surrounding Riverina region.”

“The new sites will deliver improved call quality and faster download speeds for mobile customers and will expand Optus’ 4G Plus coverage along the Sturt and Olympic Highways.

“Whether it’s helping local businesses, visitors or commuters stay connected, Optus recognises the importance of reliable mobile coverage to the local economy,” Mr Pasquali said.”

In the past year Optus has built and activated new sites at Galore, Wagga Wagga Showgrounds, Mt Ulandra and Lloyd and upgraded sites at Tarcutta, Tumblong, Coolac, Snake Gully, Keajura, Henty, Ardlethan and Stockinbingal.

Wagga Wagga is one of hundreds of regional areas enjoying the benefits of Optus’ superfast 4G Plus network, which now reaches 95.9% of Australians.

The Optus network handles over 45 million calls and 80 million SMS messages each day and carries 6,000 terabytes of data each week. The growing demand for mobile coverage is why Optus is continuously raising the bar when it comes to improving mobile services in regional Australia.
