Faster web browsing, downloading and better video streaming on the way
Optus is bringing 4G services to Oatlands which will deliver superfast mobile internet speeds for customers with compatible 4G mobile phones and tablets, while also enhancing 3G customer experience. Optus Tasmania State Manager, Peter Kirk, said, “It’s an exciting time as we’re bringing 4G to Optus customers in Oatlands for the first time. This will provide customers with a faster mobile internet experience and bring competition and choice in 4G services across Australia.” The upgrades are part of a massive 4G expansion program that will bring the Optus 4G Plus network to regional areas across Australia. Using Optus 4G Plus, customers can download apps, music and movies quicker and enjoy video and music streaming with fewer interruptions. For businesses, 4G delivers faster file downloads and a more consistent video-conferencing experience. Optus customers will also benefit from a better 3G mobile experience as customers with compatible 4G devices transition to the 4G data network, improving 3G network capacity. To support 4G services in Oatlands, the Optus mobile towers will be upgraded during the next few weeks. “As the mobile towers in Oatlands are being upgraded, there will be some service interruptions for Optus mobile customers while this essential work is being completed,” Mr Kirk said. “Optus aims to complete these works as quickly as possible in order to keep service interruptions to a minimum. We know this may be frustrating and we thank customers for their patience while the upgrade work is being completed. These upgrades will bring us closer to introducing 4G services to Oatlands.” Customers with concerns about mobile coverage can download the Optus WiFi Talk app, which enables customers to simply make and receive mobile calls and texts via a WiFi internet connection such as their home broadband, office WiFi service or publically available WiFi connections. The free WiFi Talk app for iPhone and Android devices can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Further information is available at www.optus.com.au/wifitalk.
