Optus optimises cloud offering for enterprise and government customers.
Optus Business today unveiled its Cloud strategy, delivering industry-leading, agile infrastructure to its enterprise and government customers in Australia and across Asia Pacific.
The integrated strategy provides customers with access to expert advice from one provider for the delivery of a Cloud transformation framework spanning Infrastructure, Software and Network as-a-service.
“We have responded to customer demands and aligned our approach to investment, partnerships, innovation and strategy to enable us to be the partner of choice for Australian businesses wanting greater flexibility in their cloud deployments,” said John Paitaridis, Managing Director, Optus Business.
“Optus is making it easier for businesses to innovate, unencumbered by the complexity of legacy technology. We can now navigate customers across on-premise, private, hybrid and public cloud, removing the complexity of Cloud for customers through our managed capability and expertise.”
Importantly, Optus’ has strengthened its Microsoft partnership to offer a comprehensive strategy for enterprises and governments to advise, transform and manage cloud workloads in Microsoft environments. Today, Optus has announced the addition of Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, enabling private, high-speed, low latency fibre connection to the Azure cloud platform.
The news builds on an announcement Optus made in April, making it the first Australian network service provider to partner with Microsoft in its Cloud OS Network, allowing customers to easily procure and deploy IT resources across hybrid cloud environments. Optus also recently acquired Ensyst, the winner of Microsoft’s Cloud Excellence partner of the year award in 2014, growing its capacity to design, build and manage workloads on multiple cloud environments.
In March, Optus announced its acceptance to the Cisco Intercloud Provider network, leveraging Intercloud technologies to provide customers with the ability to manage and access their workloads across multiple private and public Clouds.
“Optus’ cloud offering is uniquely agile and flexible, to meet the complex and changing needs of customers. Optus orchestrates and optimises workloads, wherever and whenever customers need it,” said Mr Paitaridis.
Working with Singtel and its vast network of affiliates to build Points of Presence throughout APAC, Optus can offer its customers a true end-to-end infrastructure and established regional offering for Australian businesses operating, or looking to invest in, the region. Optus’ cloud strategies and partnerships are closely aligned with Singtel.
Today Optus has also strengthened the flexibility of its network to address customer requirements for a rapid, highly provisioned service to address the movement of workloads across different cloud platforms.
As part of the cloud strategy, Optus customers have access to a superior network experience via a secure managed link to Amazon Web Services, allowing them to connect directly to Amazon instead of connecting via the internet. Additionally, Optus now offers customers the ability to ‘burst’ their network capacity across multiple cloud environments quickly and cost-effectively through Optus subsidiary Uecomm’s shared fibre network, linking major data centres in NSW and Victoria to their customer sites and to one another.
“Today’s news, supported by Optus’ partner program with Microsoft, Cisco and Hewlett-Packard, brings Australian enterprise and government customers a unified, secure, and flexible managed cloud service under one roof.”
“The significance of the Optus cloud program is that we are bringing to market a range of ICT products and services that, on the back of our extensive network capabilities locally and regionally, offer our customers a single service provider across the complete technology stack,” concluded Mr Paitaridis.
