Optus has switched on a new, dedicated 3G mobile tower in Horsham, Victoria, expanding mobile coverage to the south of town, and improving reception along major roads in the area, such as Henty Highway and Western Highway.
“Optus is excited to be improving 3G coverage for Horsham South residents and businesses. With the addition of this new site, more Optus customers in Horsham can enjoy a better mobile experience while out and about,” said Vic McClelland, Managing Director of Optus Networks.
Local Yes Optus store owner, Mick Dempster, welcomed the new tower and extended coverage for Horsham South.
“On the back of Optus’ network roll out across Western Victoria and nearby towns such as Goroke, Minyip and Harrow, Horsham’s new tower is a really great development for us here,” said Mr Dempster. “Local businesses now have more flexibility, while residents who have compatible handsets can stay better connected with their loved ones.”
“It’s a particularly good time for Horsham to get more of the Optus mobile network – we have our great new mobile plans with My Plan Plus and we’re continuing to upgrade and improve our network across the country,” said Mr McClelland.
Optus will continue to improve network customer experience for Horsham residents and businesses, with the planned introduction of 4G services within the next 12 months once new 4G 700 MHz spectrum is available from early next year. This means customers with compatible 4G handsets will be able to enjoy faster data speeds, for a superfast mobile internet experience.
The Optus mobile network reaches 98.5 per cent of the Australian population.
