OPTUS HEADS 'FLEET FIRST' INTO NEW FIXED AND MOBILE PLANS FOR SMBS

10 May 2011

Optus has introduced new mobile and fixed telephony plans to deliver more value and flexibility for small and medium businesses (SMB) with more than 20 employees. With the new Optus One Office (fixed) and Business Timeless Fleet (mobile) plans, SMB customers can make unlimited standard national calls from their office and mobile phones to any Australian fixed line and Australian GSM mobile, providing more cost certainty with their monthly communications spend.

For SMBs that need more than 10 office phone lines, Optus One Office provides the option of unlimited standard national calls to Australian fixed line numbers and GSM mobiles1. For SMBs with more than 20 mobile users, Optus Business Timeless Fleet provides access to unlimited standard national mobile-to-mobile2 and mobile-to-fixed line calls, standard national SMS, voicemail and social networking across their entire team, all within Australia.

Phil Offer, Marketing Director of Optus Small and Medium Business, said “Increasingly SMBs want the same benefits with fixed phone plans that they take for granted on mobile plans. With unlimited calls, our new Optus One Office plan is a game changer in the SMB market as fixed telephony plans are typically still charged on a pay-for-what-you-use basis.

“SMBs have also told us they want to focus on running their business without worrying about their fixed and mobile phone usage. While SMBs are embracing mobile devices with 63 per cent using smartphones, 87 per cent rely on fixed phone lines for their day to day business3. Combining our new Business Timeless Fleet plan with Optus One Office provides customers with a whole-of-business communications solution that enables them to better control their costs and have more freedom in their usage.”

With the rising popularity of smartphones and mobile broadband among SMBs, Optus has also introduced a new range of Business Class Mobile Broadband plans. For an additional $5 per month per mobile broadband device, SMBs have the flexibility to share their company’s total data allowance for their mobile fleet and mobile broadband service across multiple employees and devices, including smartphones, tablets and netbooks.

Research3 shows that 69 per cent of SMBs currently use mobile broadband, while a further 36 per cent plan to purchase mobile broadband services over the next 12 months.

“The adoption of smartphones, netbooks and tablets among SMBs continues to rise as more small businesses look to mobilise their business. These new plans enable SMBs to make the most of their company mobile data allowance by sharing it among staff and multiple devices so they don’t waste a byte,” said Mr Offer.
