OPTUS PROVIDES REBATES FOR TSUNAMI DISASTER CALLS

Optus said today it would offer rebates on phone calls made by Australians trying to contact family and friends in the areas affected by the Tsunami disaster.

The Company will rebate Optus-related fixed line and mobile costs for consumers calling from Australia to countries in the disaster areas.

Customers contacting immediate family members travelling or living in the affected countries will have their call charges from Boxing Day 2004 to 31 December 2004 rebated.

Optus will also rebate the cost of mobile phone calls made by Optus consumer customers travelling in the affected countries who used their mobile to call relatives in Australia. This rebate will be valid for calls made between midday (AEDT) on 26 December until midday on 31 December 2004.

In addition to the rebates, The SingTel Group will be donating S$200,000 (A$154,000) to help those affected, in collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross. The Group ha s also introduced a charity drive involving its 19,000 employees across Singapore and Australia to make voluntary contributions towards the cause.

Optus extends its sympathy to all those who have been affected by the Tsunami disaster.
