OPTUS IMPROVES MOBILE COVERAGE IN SOUTH GIPPSLAND

Optus has significantly improved its mobile coverage in the South Gippsland region, following the installation of two new mobile facilities at Mount Hoddle and Mount Tassie.

Rob Parcell, Director Victoria, said the region had benefited from Optus' $90 million dollar investment in Victoria, and commitment to improved mobile coverage.

"Over the last four years, Optus has built more than nine mobile sites in the South Gippsland region. Most recently, we installed new mobile facilities at Mount Hoddle and Mount Tassie.

"The objective of the Mount Hoddle site was to provide coverage to the Wilsons Prom Road from both Foster and Meeniyan to Wilsons Prom. The townships of Fish Creek and Foster will also benefit from the new coverage.

"The Mount Tassie site provides coverage to the surrounding area, including sections of the South Gippsland and Hyland Highways.

"Improved coverage means that people living, working and travelling in the region now have a greater choice of GSM mobile network. I encourage locals to take advantage of our Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee, and put Optus to the test," Mr Parcell said.

Maria Manzo, Manager of Optus World Traralgon, said Optus had demonstrated its commitment to the region, with its sponsorship of the Traralgon Show, and investment in improved mobile coverage.

"Optus has already extended and enhanced coverage along 300 kilometres of highway in the region.

"Seven new sites are also planned for Churchill Town, Morwell Town Centre, Mount Oberon, Newborough, Stradbroke, Traralgon South, and Traralgon Town Centre, over the coming year," Ms Manzo said.

Optus has built more than 500 mobile sites in Victoria during the past four years, and its GSM mobile network provides coverage to over 96% of the state's population.
