OPTUS FURTHER IMPROVES MOBILE COVERAGE IN THE HUNTER REGION

Optus has continued to significantly improve its mobile coverage in the Hunter region, following the installation of a new mobile tower in Scone, and the near completion of another tower at the Liddell Power Station.

Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending its mobile coverage in regional towns and along important roadways.

"Optus is committed to improving its mobile coverage in the Hunter region, and the site at Scone further extends our mobile coverage footprint in the area.

"The objective of the new site in Scone is to provide maximum coverage to the township, and provide additional capacity to supplement existing sites in the area.

"We're confident people will be impressed with our new coverage in Scone and we encourage locals to put Optus to the test," Mr Lew said.

Jayson Packett, owner and manager of local mobile phone store Network Comms, Singleton, said the Scone site would complement recent new coverage in Denman, Merriwa, Muswellbrook and Gulgong.

"The Liddell Power Station site is also now nearing completion, and when finished, will enhance coverage along the New England Highway between Pikes Gully Road and Hassell Drive.

"Residents, business people and travellers in the Hunter now have a greater choice of GSM mobile network as a result of improved coverage," Mr Packett said.
