Optus Mobile has today made finding restaurants, transport, concerts and cultural events easy through a new mobile service called *188 Tourist Info Guide.
Stuart Tucker, Marketing Director, Optus Mobile, said by dialling *188 from a mobile phone Optus customers will be able to access a wealth of information from a new, interactive voice response service.
"*188 is a portable tourist information service open for business when needed and able to provide pre-recorded details for what's on in the city, what to visit and where to eat.
"Customers can plan their day with useful, up-to-date information on the run. Gone are the days of queuing at tourist info booths.
"The service provides useful information for both domestic and international visitors," Mr Tucker said.
Information is available for Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Darwin. Content for arts and cultural events, concerts and general events is updated by Thursday in readiness for the weekend ahead.
The content is provided to Optus by HWW Limited, specialist suppliers of content for online, wireless and print media. HWW generates this content through its internal editorial team.
The *188 service will be charged at $1.35 per minute.
