OPTUS & QUICKFLIX TO DELIVER A NEW HOME ENTERTAINMENT SERVICE

Optus and home entertainment provider Quickflix today announced a marketing alliance to promote online DVD rental to Australian households.

Consumer interest in DVDs has exploded in Australia with approximately 50 per cent of households now owning a player. Quickflix, a new Australian venture, will tap into that market.

Optus will integrate Quickflix in the OptusNet dial-up and broadband portals. With the click of a button, movie watchers will select from thousands of latest releases and classic titles, the DVDs will then be delivered via Australia Post.

"Quickflix on OptusNet is an exciting new service that will be very appealing to our customer base," said Scott Lorson, Marketing Director for Optus Consumer and Multimedia.

"Integrating the service into our portals gives our customers the convenience of ordering from Quickflix's extensive DVD catalogue quickly and conveniently."

The service will launch in mid January 2004. Movie fans will be able to rent three DVDs at a time, there is no limit to how many can be rented each month and there are no late fees. The Quickflix subscription fee is $36.93 per month and includes the cost of delivery.

Special promotional deals will be offered to existing OptusNet customers. An added benefit for OptusNet Cable customers will be direct online access to Quickflix rich content including movie trailers.
