Residents and visitors to Toowoomba will enjoy improved Optus mobile coverage thanks to the recent installation of a new base station in the Darling Downs region.
Local Toowoomba Optus World General Manager Heather Bentley said Optus is committed to improving the reach and quality of its mobile coverage in Toowoomba and surrounding areas.
"People using mobiles for business or pleasure will experience better coverage south and south-east of the city and along the New England Highway," she said.
"Commuters travelling from Toowoomba to Brisbane should maximise their mobile coverage by installing a car kit with an external antenna. As well as coverage gains, we want to encourage safe driving with the use of hands free devices," said Ms Bentley.
Since February 2001, five new base stations have been installed in the Darling Downs region including Toowoomba North and CBD, Helidon, West Gatton and Centenary Heights.
With more than 4 million mobile customers, a third of the nation's mobile users are on the Optus network.
