SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BUSINESSES GET COMPETITIVE BROADBAND ACCESS

29 March 2001

South Australian businesses can now take advantage of real and effective competition in the market for high-speed telecommunications access with the completion of a Digital Subscriber Line network in Adelaide.

Broadband access company, XYZed now offers competitively priced, high-speed, business quality DSL access in the Adelaide CBD. High-speed DSL access allows business customers to combine their data, video, Internet and voice needs more efficiently and cost effectively.

XYZed's Adelaide network includes nine exchanges ready to provide DSL services. The exchanges are: North Adelaide, West Adelaide, Norwood, Salisbury, Unley, Woodville, Flinders, Prospect and Waymouth.

XYZed is Australia's first purpose built DSL provider. The company already has a national network of 98 exchanges capable of providing high-speed, business grade DSL in capital city, metropolitan and select regional areas nationally making it the largest alternative provider of copper based broadband services.

"Our DSL network has been built to provide 'business grade', high-speed broadband access. We offer the guaranteed bandwidth and security that large businesses need for mission critical operations," said Stephe Wilks, Managing Director of XYZed.

"Our network has a comprehensive Adelaide footprint that reaches approximately 90 per cent of large businesses and corporations, the largest users of high-speed access. It offers connectivity that is dramatically more cost effective than alternate high-speed options like leased line or ISDN services," said Mr Wilks.

"The XYZed network has already proven its capability to provide high quality business grade service. A number of retail carriers are re-selling our wholesale service to end-users.

"In addition to guaranteeing speed and service continuity we provide service restoration guarantees. We also provision services from our exchanges in just 20 days - much faster than the common industry practice."

With the network rollout now finished in Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane, XYZed is on target to complete its total rollout of more than 100 exchanges nationally.
