Optus Mobile Network Coverage

The Optus Open Network is our new name for the combined Optus mobile network.

The Optus Open Network today offers 3G dual band, 3G single band and 2G services.

Your ability to access 3G and 2G services and the location where these services are available within the Optus Open Network, depends on the capability of the device you’re using.

We have enhanced our website product pages, to make it easier for you to check available coverage,  by including coverage maps with each handset and you can also check coverage options at your address, using the 'street coverage' checker.

3G dual band coverage areas (2100MHz/900MHz)
We’ve come a long way with coverage footprint over the last 12 months, building new sites in every state and territory of Australia. Our 3G dual band sites are designed to maximise coverage and not only are they providing more than competitive coverage in areas never before offered a choice, we’re also providing dedicated coverage for the first time to towns and communities such as Digby (VIC), Kyalite (NSW), Dingo Beach (QLD) and Carpenter Rocks (SA). And it doesn’t stop there - with more sites to come in 2011 covering metropolitan and regional locations. Where will the Optus Network take you? Find out by viewing the mobile coverage maps on this website.

The information below provides details about our 3G dual band coverage, for customers with compatible 3G dual band devices. 3G dual band, part of the Open Network is our largest mobile network, with over 570 sites launched since January 2010 and now covers 97% of the Australian Population.

Stay tuned for more news to come about the Open Network.
