Calling overseas from your Home / Office Phone

Your Home / Office Phone must be free of any international restrictions to connect successfully with overseas numbers.

  1. Dial 0011

  2. Dial the country code

  3. Dial the area code then phone number (remove the first 0 if the area code starts with 0)

Examples:

  • To call the UK landline number: 065 8XX XXXX you'd dial: 0011 44 65 8XX XXXX from Australia
  • To call the US mobile number: 0884 8XX XXXX you'd dial: 0011 1 884 8XX XXXX from Australia

  • In some countries a successful connection requires that your phone number is shown to the receiver. If your phone number is preset not to show, then dial 1832 before 0011 in the steps above. For more info on showing or hiding your number, see this article

Calling / Messaging overseas from your Mobile

Your service must not have international restrictions active to connect successfully from Australia. If calling from another country you must have international roaming active. To remove international restrictions, please contact us.

  1. Press + (on most mobile phones the + symbol is located on the * or 0 button)

  2. Enter the country code

  3. Enter the area code then phone number (remove the first 0 if the area code starts with 0)

Examples:

  • To call the Australian landline number: 03 9XXX XXXX you'd dial: + 61 3 9XXX XXXX from another country
  • To call/SMS the mobile number: 0421 0XX XXX you'd dial: + 61 421 0XX XXX from another country

Calling Australia from overseas

The service you're calling from must not have international restrictions to connect successfully to Australia. Need to know how to make or receive a call / message while roaming overseas, see this article.

To call an Australian number from overseas follow these examples:

  • To call the Australian landline number: 03 9XXX XXXX you'd dial: + 61 3 9XXX XXXX from another country
  • To call/SMS to mobile number: 0421 0XX XXX you'd dial: + 61 421 0XX XXX from another country

Note. ' + ' is the international exit code for the country that you're in (i.e. they're equivalent of Australia's '0011')
