Device Protect gives you peace of mind in the case of loss, theft, or accidental damage. Select from the options below for help with buying Optus Device Protect insurance, making a claim, or cancelling your insurance. Purchase insurance

Optus Device Protect insurance can only be taken out at the time you obtain a new device from us, whether you get it online, in-store or over the phone.

You can add Device Protect in the shopping cart when you buy or lease a new mobile device online. If you’re in-store or on the phone, simply ask the sales person about Device Protect when making your purchase.

Make a claim

To make a claim with Optus Device Protect or Yes Cover insurance you can:

You must make the claim within 30 days of losing/damaging your device.

To make a claim:

  • You must be the account holder
  • You must have valid Optus insurance at the time of the incident
  • Your account must not have any outstanding charges owing (apart from any amounts in dispute)

Lost or stolen device

See our checklist on what to do if your device is lost/stolen. Before submitting a claim you will need to (within 48 hours of the incident):

Depending on availability and location, we will replace your device within 2 business days of approving your claim.

Accidental damage or breakdown

You must still have the device in your possession to make a claim for damage or breakdown.

We will usually repair/replace your device within 5-10 business days of approving the claim.

Cancel insurance

You can cancel Optus Device Protect or Yes Cover insurance at any time by contacting us.

As insurance premiums are charged in advance, we will apply a pro-rata credit to your next bill for any charges you may have already paid beyond your cancellation date.
