New Customers

New customers to Spotify are eligible to pay for their Spotify subscription through their mobile bill

  1. Select "Go Premium"
  2. Choose "Pay with Optus", enter your mobile number and confirm your subscription.
  3. Enjoy Spotify premium.

Existing Customers

Existing customers will need to cancel their current subscription before choosing the payment option of "Pay with Optus".

This will revert your account to a Spotify Free ad-based service after any remaining Premium time runs out. So you’ll still be able to log in, play tunes, and access your playlists.

Just follow these steps (if you subscribed through

  1. Log in to your account page.
  2. Click Subscription in the menu on the left.
  3. Click cancel your subscription and continue through the steps.
  4. Enter your password and click CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION to complete.

You are now able to sign up for premium using "Pay With Optus"

Spotify Premium is a digital music-streaming service that gives you on-demand access to millions of songs on all your devices, including mobile, tablets, TV, desktop and in the car! It is completely ad-free, and allows for offline listening and higher sound quality. Spotify Premium is originally priced at AUD $9.99/month.

What is the difference between Spotify and Spotify Premium?

The difference between the two are:

Who is qualified for this service?

All Post Paid customers who have an active personal Optus mobile number and can purchase premium content are eligible for this service. For Business accounts, kindly check with your respective company policy. Optus Mobile Broadband and Home Wireless Broadband customers are not eligible for this service.

What’s the difference between subscribing to Spotify Premium on my own versus via Optus?

Subscribing with Optus gives you the convenience to combine this with your Optus bill into a single charge without needing a credit card.

How do I subscribe to Spotify Premium via Optus?

Option 1:

Step 1: Turn off your wifi connection and make sure you are on the Optus network.
Step 2: Launch Spotify App
Step 3: Tap on the "Go premium" button
Step 4: Choose "Pay with Optus"

How do I know if I have activated the service?

You will receive a confirmation SMS after you have successfully subscribed to the service.

I am an existing Spotify Premium customer, however I did not sign up via Optus for my Spotify Premium account. How do I enjoy this offer?

You will need to de-activate your current Spotify Premium account before its renewal period. Go to to find out more.

I have just subscribed to Optus-Spotify Premium 30 days free trial. What happens next?

For new users, the Optus-Spotify Premium service will automatically renew after 30 days. You then have the option to unsubscribe from the service before the renewal date.

Note: New users means users who had never registered a Spotify account (regardless of if it's through Optus of not)

Optus have charged me in full (AUD9.99) for Spotify Premium in the last bill statement. I have registered and used it for less than a month. Why am I not pro-rated for the service?

Spotify is a third party service that Optus is exclusively bringing to our customers and the full charge for Spotify is taken on the very first day of subscription. That is why we are not able to pro-rate this service.

Once I have registered, can I access Spotify via other Internet or Wi-Fi connections?

Yes, Spotify is accessible via other Internet and Wi-Fi connections.

How do I unsubscribe the service?

To unsubscribe, go to the content site you wish to unsubscribe and use one of the following options:

  1. Access the site and go to your account or settings
  2. Reply using the word ‘STOP’ to the number you’re receiving the messages from
  3. Call the helpline number provided in the message you're receiving or on the content or media portal (e.g. a gaming website or app store)
  4. Follow the instructions at How to Check Content Usage to check your content usage, and look for the radio button where you’re able to opt out or raise a complaint from this page directly to the content provider.
