Booking an Optus NBN installation

Appointments are allocated on a first come, first served basis. You will secure a booking based on which nbn technician is closest to your area on your preferred installation day.

What happens after I book an NBN installation?

You'll receive an SMS and a letter confirming your connection date within three to five business days after placing your connection request.

A reminder of your appointment will be sent within two days of the nbn installation. If you have booked a Professional Installation, the details of your Optus NBN appointment are included at the bottom of the SMS.

If you need to reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice, you may incur a cancellation fee.

What about my account information?

An email or letter will be sent to you within seven business days before your nbn installation that will contain all your account information, including your new username and temporary password.

What happens during an nbn technician visit?

Even if you have nominated a self-installation, an nbn technician will still be required to connect your nbn service and may need access to your premises.

An English speaker who's over the age of 18 needs to be present during the appointment time, just in case the nbn technician needs to access your property to complete the connection.

Nbn technicians may visit within the following time slots:
Morning: 7.30am - 12pm
Afternoon: 12pm - 5pm
Note. Some complex installations can take up to 8 hours.

What is an Optus NBN Professional Installation?

I have ordered an Optus Self Installation Kit

Once the nbn technician appointment time has passed, you can finish your self-installation using the modem and user guide that you would have received three to five business days before your installation date.

How will I know Optus NBN is connected?

You’ll receive a confirmation SMS once the NBN has been connected. If you’re transferring or ‘porting’ your home phone number over to Optus, you may also receive an SMS to let you know once this has been completed.
