Can I keep my phone number if I switch to the nbn™?
When you sign up for an NBN bundle, it includes phone and internet services.
In order to hold onto your current landline phone number, you’ll need to let Optus know that you’d like it to be transferred over to the nbn network.
How do I activate number porting for Optus NBN?
Most of the time it’s easy to transfer your current home or business landline number over to Optus. You’ll need to select an Optus NBN plan and to check that you are serviceable on the network.
To port your number over to Optus NBN:
- Check the serviceability. You’ll then be able to pick from a range of options, including silent number and keep your number.
- Select a phone and broadband bundle
- Your home or office landline must remain active during the switch over.
How long does the transfer take?
Transferring your old phone number over to the nbn takes around ten business days. There will be cases however where it can take longer if the equipment in your area needs to be upgraded.
Does a technician need to attend?
Technicians may need to visit your local telephone exchange and/or your address. Optus will let you know of any requirements for technician visits.
If a technician must visit my address, do I have to be present?
We need someone to be at the address that is over the age of 18 years and who is an English speaker. This person doesn’t have to be the account holder, but may need to make decisions and sign-off on the work completion on the account holders behalf.
