The 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) - which recently wrapped in Las Vegas - gave us a peek at some of the most cutting-edge products from the world’s most innovative companies.
From digital assistants powered by artificial intelligence to drones and autonomous vehicles - a world once dreamt of is now verging on reality, and it couldn’t be more exciting.
This year was all about improving communication between smart devices (the IoT) and placing screens front and centre of everything.
Here are five things from CES we’re excited about.
The Wall is the world’s first consumer modular MicroLED 146-inch TV. It can transform into any size and delivers incredible brightness, colour gamut, colour volume and black levels.
The MicroLED technology eliminates the need for colour filters or backlight, meaning the screen is able to produce contrasts of lush colours and deep blacks without illumination spills.
The module-based, bezel-less design allows users to customise their television sizes and shapes to suit their needs.
The Wall is 146 inches - twice the size of most household TVs.
With the Google Assistant built in, the Lenovo Smart Display, which has a vibrant full HD touchscreen display (8" or 10"), is designed to make everyday life easier - all with just your voice.
Touchscreen devices with digital voice assistants could be one way Google carries the popularity of its voice interfaces from the home to the workplace - one of the three key spaces alongside the car and home that the company wants to dominate.
An AI assistant combined with a visual user interface will be far more useful in a business environment than current voice-only applications.

LG’s InstaView ThinQ is the culmination of cutting-edge refrigeration technology and maximum convenience and efficiency
Featuring a 29-inch touch LCD display that transforms from a computer display to a transparent window with just two knocks, the intelligent refrigerator recommends recipes based on what ingredients you have on hand. InstaView ThinQ also offers a streamlined food management system through LG’s webOS platform and Alexa’s voice recognition technology. The Smart Tag feature allows the addition of stickers, tags and expiration dates to food stored in the smart fridge, issuing alerts as an item reaches its expiration date.

The Aeolus Robot is the first multifunctional in-home robot powered by the latest in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Equipped with an agile arm able to dynamically manipulate household objects, Aeolus can recognise and adapt to changing environments and independently learn, navigate and complete tasks, fundamentally changing the way housework is done.

The Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream* is the world’s first standalone Daydream VR headset, meaning it doesn’t rely on wires, PCs or phones.
The Mirage Solo unlocks hundreds of immersive Daydream VR experiences. You can sit front-row at live sporting events, travel via VR to distant lands, and be at the centre of exhilarating games – all from the comfort of your living room.
The Mirage Solo has dual microphones, 64GB of internal storage (and an SD card slot should you need extra space). It's powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor found in the Samsung Galaxy S8.
*Daydream is a VR platform developed by Google that is built into the Android mobile operating system (Nougat 7.1 and later).
A new VR experience.
While this year’s CES is done and dusted, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) - which explores the trends that will shape mobile in the years ahead - is just around the corner (kicking off 26 February). We will be covering the big news and developments from MWC on our blog, so be sure to check back.
