Meetings never need to be drag, especially if you’re working from outside the office. Here’s a few tips on keeping your connection smooth.

Working from home has its ups and downs. And while there’s no way to guarantee that every meeting is going to be a breeze (even when you’re in your dressing gown), there are a few things you can do to help keep connections around the country running smoothly.

Stagger your schedule

There’s nothing worse than a meeting with way too many people in it, and we’ve all seen what it’s like when too many voices are clamoring over each other to be heard.

Well, the same can be said for the meeting’s themselves – when too many data-hungry video calls and dial-in meeting are running at the same time, it can cause the network to slow down or choke.

Try staggering your meetings with bookings at odd times, so 12:10 instead of 12:00 for example, and it will help the network keep the productivity pumping at maximum capacity.

Consider going video free

Yes, you have an appealing face and a snappy sense of dress. But, because everyone in the office probably already knows that, you may consider keeping your video dial-ins an audio-only affair.

It will help ease the stress that’s on the infrastructure, as well as keep the focus on your razor-sharp insights and away from your distractingly good haircut.

A little positivity is a powerful thing

Sometimes it’s the little things that can make all the difference and put a better spin on your day. Staying up to date with the latest in-jokes can pay off big time down the track – like a butterfly effect for totally chill vibes.

Try booking a call or two that’s just for banter or consider Friday drinks over Facebook live with the team. It’ll help take the edge off that joke in the group message that didn't quite get the laughs you were looking for.
