Optus has won the $65 million 'Cluster 3' Federal Government telecommunications outsourcing contract.
Under the terms of the four-year deal, Optus will provide several Federal Government agencies (collectively known as 'Cluster 3'), with a fully managed voice and data solution. The service will be delivered to around 485 sites across Australia.
Chris Hancock, Managing Director of Optus Business, said the contract was a significant win for Optus.
"It is a terrific revenue boost, and it is a contract of high strategic value for Optus."
"For the first time, we will be providing managed data services, as well as the voice and data networking we already provide, directly to the 'Cluster 3' agencies," Mr Hancock said.
"Data is becoming increasingly important for our Government and business clients."
"As an integrated communications company, providing whole-of-business services to large clients is an area of strategic focus for Optus and this deal will demonstrate our capabilities," he said.
Optus has previously provided managed voice services to the 'Cluster 3' agencies as a sub-contractor in an IT&T contract.
"We now have a direct relationship with the 'Cluster 3' agencies. In the competitive tender process, 'Cluster 3' sought a telco partner able to make sure they get what they want, when they want it - and Optus is that partner."
