Optus has signed a $10 million deal with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to provide telecommunications services over five years.
Optus will provide a managed Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network for the ABC. The service provides very high-speed network connectivity using the latest package technology to carry different types of traffic.
The service will be used as the ABC's core network to deliver telephony, data, audio and video services between its offices in capital cities and major regional areas.
Using a single integrated platform designed to be highly flexible and reliable the network will offer much greater bandwidth between the ABC's locations.
The new managed ATM service replaces the ABC's existing wide area network (WAN) which is currently being deployed by ABC equipment connected to Optus Datalinks and other carrier services.
Optus Business is steadily winning large corporate accounts as part of its ability to develop customised solutions to meet the strict requirements of Australian, regional and global organisations.
