How do the Optus Family Mobile Plans work?
The Optus Family Mobile Plan is made up of 4 SIMs.
- 1 Primary SIM
- 3 Family SIMs
If you have more than 4 in your family, you can add up to four extra Optus Kids Mobile Plan for $29/mth.
The Optus Family Mobile SIMs and any Optus Kids Mobile Plan(s) must all be on the same billing account as the Optus Family Plan Primary SIM.
How does the Optus Kids Mobile Plan work?
If you have more than 4 in your family, you can add up to four extra Optus Kids Mobile Plan for $29/mth. The Optus Kids Mobile Plan shares data with your Optus Family Mobile Plan.
Optus Kids Mobile Plan can only be added to an eligible plan, like the Optus Family Mobile Plan.
Can I add a phone to the Optus Family Mobile Plan or the Optus Kids Mobile Plan?
Absolutely! You can add a phone to your new SIM plan – you can pay for it outright, pay it off interest free over 12, 24 or 36 months, or bring your own.
Can I use the Optus Family Mobile Plan for my business?
For businesses, you can explore the Optus Business Connect Plan with up to 8 SIMs. If you are currently on the Optus Family Mobile Plan and using it for your business, you can recontract to the Optus Business Connect Plan as long as you have a valid ABN/ACN/ARBN. You will lose any McAfee subscription attached to the Optus Family Plan. There is a limit of ONE Business Connect Plan OR Family Plan per billing account.
What do I need to do to switch my mobile phone number to Optus?
Bringing your number to Optus is easy. For your security we'll send you a once-off verification code by SMS, to the mobile number you want to bring over. You'll need to be able to access the SMS from that phone number so make sure you have it handy.
Do these plans share data?
The Optus Family Mobile Plan data inclusions of 320GBs per month are shared between the 4 SIMs and any Optus Kids Mobile Plan you may have added.
The data will also be shared with other eligible Postpaid Mobile and Mobile Broadband plans on the same billing account.
How do I track my family's data usage?
The primary account holder can view the data usage for all the Optus Family Mobile SIMs or Optus Kids Mobile Plans. You can check usage by:
We'll also send you usage alerts once you've reached approximately 50%, 85% and 100% of your individual or pooled data inclusions.
We'll also send you usage alerts when you've reached 85% and 100% of any extra data that you use above your standard plan inclusion each month.
What happens if I go over my plan's included data?
Great news - with our Endless Data feature, once you reach your shared data allowance, all services on your account will continue to use data at maximum speeds of up to 1.5Mbps. You can return to full data speed by adding a Data Add-on or Unlimited Data Day in My Optus App.
We'll also send you usage alerts at 50%, 85% and 100% of your data limit - and, you can always see how your usage is travelling in My Optus App.
What is McAfee® Safe Family?
The McAfee® Safe Family app is a service that gives you parental controls to help manage your kids' devices such as smart phones and iPads. From a single app, you'll be able to:
- Know where your kids are with location alerts and live tracking
- Monitor device activity and block certain websites or apps
- Collaborate with your kids to set screen time limits and cut off hours
Who is eligible for McAfee® Safe Family?
The Optus Family Mobile Plan and Optus Kids Mobile Plan are eligible for an included subscription McAfee® Safe Family app.
What happens if I cancel my Optus Family Mobile Plan or Optus Kids Mobile Plan?
The Optus Family Mobile Plan and the Optus Kids Mobile Plan are M2M and no plan cancellation fees apply. You will need to pay any charges incurred up until the date of cancellation. If you have Optus Family Mobile SIMs or an Optus Kids Mobile Plan but no longer have an eligible primary plan on the same billing account, this service will need to be changed to a different plan or be cancelled, otherwise Optus may suspend and then cancel on notice.
What happens if I cancel a SIM with a device payment plan?
You can cancel anytime and pay your plan access fees and charges incurred up to the end of the billing period in which you cancel. if you have a device you will also need to pay out the full remaining cost. If you cancel early, any remaining device credits or discounts will be forfeited. This will also apply to device payment plans attached to any Optus Family Mobile SIMs and Optus Kids Mobile Plans.
