KEEP IT OR TRADE IT - BUT STAY NIMBLE

KEEPING MY OLD DEVICE

Want to trade-up but also keep your old device? If you want to hang you're your tablet as a back-up - or to give to your family - you still can.

Instead of paying the $99 fee, simply pay out the full remaining cost of your device, including any amounts that Optus was going to cover. Then upgrade to your new tablet on a new 24-month plan.

Real sweet - having your old device and a new one too.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

We're big on sustainability. One of Optus' highest causes of environmental impact is mobile phones - and one way to off-set this is by giving our devices longer lives, which is why - when you trade up - we pass your old device to our second-hand device vendor.

But first, before handing over your device, you need to delete all your personal data, and make sure your phone's unlocked.

Once our secondhand-device vendor receives it, they prepare it for its new life, where it will either be re-used in developing nations or recycled through Mobile Muster. Maximising use of resources and minimising landfill.

OUR NEW NIMBLE PLANS

We get it - you need to keep nimble in a fast-moving world. That's why our latest My Mobile Broadband Plus include the option of New Phone Trade Up.

They also let you exit early if you need to, with no plan cancellation fees. You simply pay what's owing on your device including any amounts that Optus was going to cover - and you're out. Sweet, not sticky.

If you're not on our latest My Mobile Broadband Plus plans - which launched in March 2016 - you will not be eligible for New Tablet Trade Up. However, you might be interested in our old school trade-in scheme

WHAT IS 'GOOD WORKING ORDER'?

If you want to trade up, your tablet needs to be in "good working order". This means your tablet functions normally - that is, it makes and receives calls and texts, connects to the internet, and has normal wear and tear as listed below:

  • Your device can power on and off.
  • Your touchscreen is fully functional and has no imperfections such as lines or marks.
  • Your device does not have any missing buttons or damage to other components such as charging ports or SIM tray.
  • The device (including the touchscreen) is not cracked and does not have any severe scratches (normal wear and tear such as light marks and scratches are okay).
  • Make sure any locking features are disabled (for example, find my iPhone on iOS devices).

Still unsure? Come into your nearest Yes! Optus store to ask our friendly staff.

For families, Data Pool means all your Gigabytes are shared, so now the members of your family who need more data can use the unused Gigs of other family members.

For individuals with multiscreens, Data Pool means it's much easier to use your preferred device when you have one Data Pool to draw on.

If you need more data in any month, we'll automatically top up your Data Pool for just $10 per extra 1GB. We'll send you usage alerts to help you monitor your spend. You can also check Data Pool usage on the go with the My Optus App from your smartphone or tablet or online via My Account.
