Change Your My Account Preferences, Log In or Password

My Account offers customisation options, such as changing the email address / mobile number that you receive your bill SMS / emails in My Account. Click on the topics below for more information.

Change your Login Username / Email Address for My Account

If you've not yet switched to email login, you'll be presented with a new popup in My Account.

  1. The popup will advise you to switch to email login

  2. You can enter your Email Address & click Change

  3. A verification email will be sent to your email address before the email login can be used

Changing to email login is not yet mandatory, you can click on the 'X' in the corner if you don't wish to change your username. Keep in mind that you'll see the popup again the next time you log in.

If you close the popup & want to switch to logging in using your email address:

  1. Log in to My Account

  2. From the menu at the top click Profile

  3. Click the Account Information tab

  4. Click on Switch to Email Login & follow the prompts

Change your secret questions or password for My Account

Secret questions and answers are used to help you retrieve a forgotten password. To change your secret questions or your password follow these steps:

  1. Log in to My Account

  2. From the menu at the top click Profile

  3. Click the Account Information tab

  4. Click the Change link next to the details you want to update

  5. Enter the Updated Information in the fields provided

  6. Click the Update button to save the changes

Change how you're notified about new bills (SMS or email)

From time to time Optus will send important information to your mobile such as bill / usage alerts, My Account passwords resets etc. The Account Holder can follow the steps below to change the billing notifications.

  1. Log in to My Account

  2. From the menu at the top click Profile

  3. Click the Billing Notification tab

  4. If a different email / mobile number is preferred, click the Change link next to the Email / SMS you would like to update

  5. Update the Contact and click the Update button to save the changes

  6. Select the preferred Billing Notification method

  7. Click the Save Preferences button to save the changes

Change your primary service in My Account

If you've multiple services with Optus, you can change the service that loads first when you log in. This is known as your 'primary service'.

Please note: This feature differs to setting up primary and secondary email accounts. Find out more about those options here.

  1. Log in to My Account

  2. From the menu at the top click Profile

  3. Click the Service Preferences tab

  4. Click the Change link next to the Primary Service number

  5. Select the Service you want to appear first on the My Account Dashboard

  6. Click the Update button to save the changes

Switch between SMS or Email notifications from Optus
  1. Log in to My Account

  2. From the menu at the top click Profile

  3. Click the General Marketing tab

  4. You can perform the following updates. All you need to do is click the Save Preferences button to save the changes

  • Opt in / out of a contact method and provide the best (primary) contact number or email
  • Opt in / out of specific marketing and promotional communications from Optus
  • Opt out of all marketing

Important: General Marketing will be greyed out if you are younger than 14 years of age. You can still register for My Account and log into your account to view contact details and Optus Perks
