How do I get a new iPhone and/or Apple Watch from Optus?

What plans are available with the latest iPhones?

Am I able to upgrade to a new iPhone?

You can check your contract end date and upgrade eligibility in My Account or via SMS - see this article for help. If you're eligible, you can purchase yours through the following options:

  • Click the buy now button within My Account. If you're purchasing online, you can transfer your number to your new iPhone and/or SIM card online using the steps in this article, once your new iPhone and SIM card has been delivered
  • Visit us in-store

Can I switch my number over to Optus and get a new iPhone?

You sure can! You just need to make sure your number stays active with your existing provider until the switchover is complete. You can do this...

Go in-store, where we'll organise everything for you, including switching your number over.

By purchasing and activating online

Buy an iPhone and switch (port) your number online. Here's a quick run-down of how an online switchover works.

Pick and purchase your new iPhone
  1. Choose a colour, size and a plan for your new iPhone from our online shop

  2. As part of the order we'll need your name, address, delivery details, etc.

  3. We'll send an SMS once the device leaves our warehouse & you can track your delivery here

Once I've got the awesome new iPhone & Optus SIM, what do I do?

You may not need to do a thing!  Postpaid (Billed) services purchased by new Residential and Micro customers online or over the phone
are auto-activated within 4 hours of you receiving your delivery.  So you may have already been activated! 

How do I check if I've been auto-activated?
  1. Insert your new SIM card and switch your mobile on

  2. Within 5 minutes you'll receive an SMS from Optus advising that auto-activation is complete

Note:  Same carrier ports are sent a text message with further info to complete the port.

Is Optus locking the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus to its network?

No! All iPhone 7 and 7 Plus handsets sold by us are not locked to our network. If you have an older iPhone that was sold by Optus and need to unlock it from our network, see this article for help.
