Am I still in contract and can I upgrade or recontract?

How to check if I'm still in contract?

If you're on a Postpaid plan, get your contract end date here.

Note: If you’re looking to recontract onto a 12 month BYO plan, be sure to check out our online store, as these are no longer available over the phone or in-store.

I'm in contract, can I change my plan or upgrade?

If you change your plan or upgrade during your contract term, a fee may apply. Any repayments you have for your phone will remain the same. Don't worry, we'll let you know before you commit to any change.

I'm out of contract, can I change my plan or upgrade?

Yes, you can change plans or upgrade without incurring a fee. You can do this as long as your bills are up to date and you haven't already changed plans this month.

How do I change plans?

I'm an existing Optus customer

As a heads up, if you're looking to move from one of our older plans to our latest My Plan Plus, you may have to recontract.

Change your plan online:
  1. Head to www.optus.com.au/changeplanmobile

  2. Click on the relevant tab at the top

  3. Follow the onscreen instructions

Change your plan via SMS:
  1. From the service you want to change, text 'Menu' to 9999

  2. Reply to the SMS with '4' (Prepaid) or '6' (Postpaid)

  3. Follow the onscreen instructions

  4. We'll send you an SMS once your plan change is complete

  5. If you're on a Prepaid Plan, you may need to recharge to start using your new plan

  6. Switch your device off, then on to update your SIM

If you're changing your Mobile Broadband plan, you may also need to update your Mobile Broadband APN once your new plan begins.

Prepaid FAQs

A. It all depends on whether you're on a Mobile or Mobile Broadband plan...

Prepaid Mobile

If you're moving between any Prepaid plans, you'll keep any MyCredit balance, but lost all other credit, minutes, SMS, MMS data or bonuses. The best time to change your plan is when you're out of credit, when your credit is expired or due to expire.

Prepaid Mobile Broadband

Unfortunately, you'll lose any bonus credits. To avoid this, we recommend using all your bonus credits before changing to a different Prepaid plan.
