  • How to check my prepaid balance and data usage?

    You can check your prepaid credit, balance, expiry date and data usage via My Optus App or SMS ‘menu’ to 9999. Learn more

  • Can I keep my number when switching to Optus prepaid?

    Yes! Transferring a phone or service number between phone companies is called 'porting'. The following steps summarise what needs to happen if you want to keep your number and transfer it to Optus Prepaid.

    1. Head to optus.com.au/activate and have your new Optus Prepaid SIM & some identification handy
    2. Start by entering YOUR SIM NUMBER which is on the new Optus Prepaid SIM card
    3. Enter YOUR DETAILS and be sure they match the same details of your current Mobile Service Provider’s record
    4. Select KEEP YOUR NUMBER in section 3 - YOUR NUMBER where you enter your mobile number you’re keeping
    5. Ensure you enter details that match with your current Mobile Service Provider’s record
    6. Provide us authority to contact your current Mobile Service Provider and arrange the transfer

    Placing your order and switching your number can only happen during the business hours:

    • Monday - Friday: 08:00am - 08:00pm
    • Saturday: 10:00am - 06:00pm

    During these times it usually takes about 30 minutes, but can take up to 4 hours. If you have submitted your activation order outside of these times, your service will remain active with your current Mobile Service Provider and will be processed on the next available business day.

    If you've already activated your SIM card and have been allocated a new number, you won't be able to replace the new number with your old number.

    How long does it take?

    You can request to transfer to us online at any time; however a number will only 'physically' switchover during the times/days shown below. So if you make a request outside of these hours, your service will remain active with your existing provider until the next business day and then switchover. Switching normally occurs within about 20 minutes, but can take up to 4 hours during these times.

    What will it cost?

    Sometimes if you cancel a contract with another service provider early, they may charge you a fee. Be sure to check with your existing provider as Optus is not liable for any fees incurred as a result of you transferring your service from another carrier.

    Optus AutoRecharge is an online service that will enable you to register your credit card and set up automated recharges for your Optus Prepaid service.

  • How can I use my data free music streaming?

    Your data free audio music streaming is for your single usage, through the included mobile music service apps only (at launch: on Google Play Music, Guvera, iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify).

  • Can I tether from my service?

    No, data free audio music streaming does not include tethering of any kind.

  • How will music be streamed through my single service?

    Your streaming service has been designed to not exceed 512 kbps. This speed is for single usage on your service, to enable you to stream audio music data free through the included mobile music service apps.

For daily plans streaming will trigger a day’s usage. For other eligible plans streaming will be available on first recharge from 02/05/16. You must have a positive MyCredit or data balance to access data free music streaming. Add Ons will not extend your recharge expiry or use of data free music streaming. Song downloads, mobile & mobile broadband WiFi hotspots, video content, non-music audio content & other data sent by streaming services such as advertisements & album art is excluded & will incur data charges. 1GB Bonus Data: Customers on My Prepaid Ultimate will receive 1GB bonus data on every recharge of $30 or more made before 31 July 2016. Expires in 28 days, unless Data Rollover applies. Check data balance before purchasing next recharge. Recharges made after 31 July 2016 will revert to standard data inclusion for that recharge.

Data Rollover: Unused included data will roll over to next recharges up to a max of 15GB if you recharge before credit expires. If you recharge over 15GB you will forfeit any data over that limit.

Unlimited Standard International Calls: Available with $40+ recharges on My Prepaid Ultimate from 1 February 2016 to 10 July 2016. For calls made from within Australia. Excludes premium services and video calls. Expires within 28 days. Countries are China, India, USA, UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Malaysia. MY PREPAID ULTIMATE
Extras Credit: Expires in 28 days or on next recharge, whichever is earlier. Travel Credit: For use on standard voice calls, SMS and data whilst roaming overseas. Travel Credit cannot be used for MMS. Travel Credit will be charged at standard rates which can be found at optus.com.au/travel. Optus makes no guarantee regarding the quality and availability of coverage or any roaming services. Extras Credit & Travel Credit Add Ons: If you recharge with the same Add On before it expires, the inclusions in each Add On will roll over (e.g. if you recharge with a $10 Extras Credit Add On before an earlier $10 Extras Credit Add On expires, those Add On inclusions will roll over). MY PREPAID DAILY PLUS
The $2 Daily Level is charged on the first outbound standard national call, text, MMS, Voicemail or data use each day. Some phones are set to seek data automatically, and this will cause the Daily Level to be charged. Please check your phone settings. If you use more than the included data in the $2 Daily Level we'll auto bump you another 524MB data (total of 1GB) to use in the day. Extra Data Purchase: Data will expire at the end of the day of purchase. Extra data can only be purchased once the daily data max of 1GB is reached. Music Streaming Data Free: All for use in Australia. Days end at 11:59pm. Fair Go Policy applies. On selected mobile Prepaid plans & streaming service apps only. Available until 16/07/17.
